12 days of Brumotions: One’s to watch in 2015

On the 8th day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to you…

One’s to watch in 2015

We Brumoters LOVE to predict the future for music hits and today we’ll be focusing on what’s going to be hot in 2015!

From solo acts to bands, below are some artists that we believe that might just be lucky next year.

Ollie Marland

Ollie-Marland-Wallpaper-3

For years Ollie Marland has been on the Unsigned Scene. However, in 2014 he signed with Crown Talent and Media Group with the likes of Ellie Goulding and Jessie J in their arsenal.

Ollie is set to break hundreds of girls’ hearts, but will 2015 be his year? We think so!

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas

OMG we’re dating a Jonas Brother… It’s sooooo hot

We Wish!

Those days are over though for youngest brother Nick Jonas, who is pursuing a much more mature and modern style of music and let’s just say it’s something special.

We can’t wait for the release of his solo album and to see if he will be bringing his music live to the UK in 2015.

Please Nick!

Kingsland Road

Kingsland Road

We have covered Kingsland Road many times throughout 2014 and we feel that 2015 will be their year to finally shine to the masses.

They are now a four piece – Booo! – and are set to release their brand, spanking new debut album with a tour across the UK AND the US  – Yayyyy!

We are looking forward to what’s coming next for these guys.

Lawson

Lawson

We pride ourselves on always being on the lookout for top quality musicians and when we heard Lawson four years ago, we knew they were on to something good.

2015 is set to see Lawson release a brand new album, which if their last album Chapman Square is anything to go by, we can’t wait, and especially as in the land of Lawson this means a tour.

Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony

After taking the US by storm with their powerful, pro-female image and a strikingly amazing UK debut on this year’s X Factor, we wouldn’t be surprised if Fifth Harmony rocket up the UK charts in 2015, rivalling Little Mix for the top spot on the girl band front.

Hollywood Ending

Hollywood Ending

Hollywood Ending are those Punk A$$ Kids that our Mama’s warned us about, they are infections, fun and that little bit naughty… but we LOVE them.

We definitely think they are some of the brightest young talents and are worth checking out as we are predicting big things to come from this four piece.

Stereo Kicks

Stereo Kicks

After leaving this year’s X Factor, we feel that Stereo Kicks have great potential on the Boyband front, an 8 piece hasn’t been successfully formed before and we are intrigued as to what is next to come from their original music in 2015.

Will they stay together or will the lads go back to being solo?

James Bay

James Bay

James Bay is an up and coming talent with a great voice and obvious promise to make it in the big leagues of the music industry.

In 2015, Bay is embarking on a UK tour and we personally can’t wait to hear what’s coming next.

Nathan Sykes

Nathan Sykes

After the disbanding of one of our favourite Boybands- The Wanted, earlier this year, which brought many tears from fans and us Brumoters alike, Nathan Sykes is set to make a comeback.

In 2015, the baby faced crooner, is set to release his debut solo material and its safe to say if its anything like his collaboration with Pop princess Ariana Grande, we are excited! Sykes will definitely be one of the most wanted in 2015.

So there you have it!

Here at Brumotions we love to hear from you, let us know if you agree  or if there are any other artists you think we should be featuring.

12 Days of Brumotions: McBusted Album Review

On the 7th day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to YOU…

A McBusted Album Review

mcbusted album

McFly’s Danny, Dougie, Tom and Harry are teaming up with Busted’s James and Matt to release their collaborative self-titled, debut studio album ‘McBusted’!

And after seeing the lads live last year, we’ve been buzzing and very impatiently waiting for the release and to hear what this incredibly good looking group of lads have prepared!

The highly anticipated album was released on December 1st and we couldn’t help but be slightly disappointed as it features more misses than hits.

Check out our track by track review of McBusted’s newest release below!

And let us know what you guys think of the new album!

Air Guitar

This track was an obvious choice for a lead single from the album; it’s a feel good song with a great riff, infectious lyrics and a catchy, yet haunting bridge. It’s a great dynamic track to start the party and it really showcases the best of the McBusted lads.

Hate Your Guts

An incredible collaboration with Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is the best way to describe this track!

Hate Your Guts is a much edgier and rockier sounding track to be featured on the album and shows the heavy influence that Hoppus had on the song. This is definitely one of our favourite tracks on the album and we wished the lads would’ve leaned more towards this sound for the entirety of the album.

What Happened to Your Band

Written by James Bourne with the Busted counterpart of this group in mind, What Happened to Your Band was actually written back in 2007! And has only just been released as a McBusted track on the album – although you can watch James performing it live in the video above!

The track screams Busted, with it’s 90s feel and the heavy appearance of both James’ and Matt’s vocals, which were a nice change from the other tracks. However, it is a slight miss in terms of matching the rest of the album and some of the other incredible tracks on it.

Get Over It

This song is penned to be the second single release from McBusted, though the date is still to be announced, it is due to be released in early 2015.

Our Brumoters will be very pleased if this track will be released during it’s expected dates as it will kick start Pop Rock music released throughout the year. We’re quite relieved to hear Danny’s vocals make a further appearance on this particular record as it produces a more mature sound, which tends to be lacking in the other tracks.

Riding on my Bike

On hearing the title of this track, we were slightly worried that the McBusted lads were going to lose the mature sound held in the previous tracks and instead choosing to appeal to a younger audience.

However, Riding on my Bike has become one of our favourite tracks on the album for it’s fun sound and for making us smile every single time we listen to it (…which we admit is a lot!)

Gone

This song is one of the mature tracks on the album, both in theme and the gorgeous vocals by the lads. Written by James, Tom and Danny, this particular track holds a McFly sounding tone to it, which is a pretty refreshing addition to the album amongst the new McBusted based tracks.

Sensitive Guy

Sensitive Guy is one of the less serious tracks on the album, which still manages to get us to like it! It has a great tune, with catchy lyrics and an addictive instrumental that will no doubt have you rocking along with it.

Beautiful Girls are the Loneliest

This is another track that was written by Busted’s James, before McBusted was officially formed and was later tailored to suit the lads. However, this is one of the tracks that our Brumoters are not too keen on.

Beautiful Girls are the Loneliest sounds weird on this album, especially as it instantly cuts through the more hyped up feel from the previous songs. However, the track is definitely cute and James’ voice is certainly not unwelcome.

Before You Knew Me

Once again the album begins to pick it’s pace back up again and it’s a good track to do exactly that. Before You Knew Me is an extremely catchy tune with some amazing guitar riffs, which helps make it another track that our Brumoters would love to hear live.

Back in Time

This track is practically written about a dream we once had… waking up in bed next to a member of McBusted? Yes please!

It’s an incredibly catchy track, which has been stuck in our head since the release of the album and reminds us of an early McFly single – which could be proven true, especially as the track was written by McFly’s very own Tom Fletcher.

How’s My Hair?

This is admittedly our least favourite track on the album and is the track that was constantly skip when playing it. It’s the most immature song featured and we find it very difficult to like – the tune is the most simplistic and although the lyrics are incredibly easy to learn, we find ourselves not wanting to remember them or listen to the track.

Getting It Out

Getting It Out reminds us of an old school Pop song (Aka Busted!), it’s a track which is sure to be a crowd pleaser – especially when it will finally be played live. It’s pretty easy on the ears and Dougie’s vocals make a well deserved appearance (which make us extremely happy!) and shine throughout the song.

23:59

This track is a pleasant addition to the album, though it certainly isn’t the most exciting song on the album – However, it does grow on you the more you listen to it and we have found ourselves putting it on repeat a lot in the office.

In Da Club

In Da Club is a fun track, which makes us want to rock out in our rooms, while singing into our hair brushes (pretending we have incredible voices… and maybe dating one of the lads, do you blame us?), it has an infectious tune and actually makes us want to head out to party – especially on a Friday night, like tonight!

It’s repetition cements itself into your mind and we can’t help but love this track.

I See Red

The McBusted lads definitely chose the right track to finish the album with, although the beginning of the song reminds us heavily of Letters of the Cleo’s version of the single ‘I Want You To Want Me’ (…You know, the version featured in 10 Things I Hate About You with the incredibly young and gorgeous Heath Ledger?)

This song is incredibly catchy and has us dancing around the office every time is comes on! The lyrics quickly implant themselves within your mind alongside the tune, which is pretty addictive.

Overall, the album is slightly disappointing – though the few tracks which are pretty incredible make it a decent album.

It was definitely interesting to finally hear the sound that McBusted are using – especially as it sounds nothing like any of Busted’s or McFly’s previously releases. We admit that we love a few of the tracks on the album, though some of the others could be better.

Let us know what you think about the new McBusted album and sound!

12 Days of Brumotions: The ‘OR’ Game with… The Secrets

On the 6th day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to YOU…

The  ‘OR’ Game with The Secrets!

When our Brumoters complete interviews with some of the amazing artists around, we like to play a little game called ‘OR!’

The basic rules are to give the artists two separate options and have them choose the one they like the most… For example, Pepsi or Coca Cola!

The Secrets

We usually like to play a little game with those that we are interviewing, do you fancy playing a quick game of OR with us?

Lewis: Let’s play it.

The point of OR is, we give you two options and you pick one OR the other, for example Pepsi or Cola? You then just pick which one you prefer.

Lewis: Cola… I’m too into the game before we have even started.

Very competitive! So first one No TV or No Phone?

All: No TV.

Lewis: that was a unanimous decision… we’re going with no TV, are they correct? dun dun dahh… they’re right! …Sorry I’m weird.

Fulfil your biggest wish or resolve your biggest regret?

Luke: Biggest Wish.

Lewis: Resolve my biggest regret.

Josh: Biggest Wish.

Nando’s or Pizza Hut?

Josh: Nando’s for me, I love chicken.

Luke: Nando’s.

Lewis: See I just love food so I can’t decide; I’m going to stick in the middle of that, half Nando’s and half Pizza Hut. Nando’s is amazing but so is Pizza.

Josh: Cheesy Bites…

Lewis: Cheesy Bites are just unreal.

Luke: You can’t beat a full chicken.

Lewis: but you can’t beat a cheesy bites Pizza.

Luke: you can.

Ability to fly or ability to travel through time?

Josh: Travel through time.

Luke: Fly, I wouldn’t wanna mess up the past, and I wouldn’t wanna know what was going to happen.

Lewis: I think I’d quite like to travel through time I’d like to see if I changed things in the past, how would the future change – like how I’m living right now, sort of like the mosquito effect.

Josh: What’s that?

Lewis: like if you go back in time and kill a mosquito and the whole world blows up.

Josh: …you mean the Butterfly Effect.

Lewis: oh it’s the butterfly effect, sorry! wrong animal… I just smacked myself in the face for that one because I feel like an idiot.

Twitter or Facebook?

Lewis: Facebook.

Josh: Facebook yeah.

Luke: I dunno you know… I suppose Facebook… I do like Twitter, Twitter’s really good for chatting to fans and stuff but Facebook you can just do everything on it.

This is the final question of the OR game: Date your celebrity crush or the crush you personally know?

Luke: The Crush that I personally know because you don’t know the personality of a celebrity, you’re just looking at them, they could turn out to be an idiot, but the person that you know, you already know that they are a nice person.

Josh: me too.

Lewis: I’d say celebrity.

Who’s your celebrity pick then?

Lewis: I don’t know because I have a few… I’d probably say Hayley Williams from Paramore I’ve been in love with her since like 2000… I just made that year up – ever since Paramore started becoming big and like the first album, I just fell in love and I’ve been to  watch them loads of times.

Following on from this who are your celebrity Crushes?

Josh: Mine’s probably Taylor Swift.

Luke: Mine’s a girl called Christina Constanza from a band called Against the Current, she’s absolutely stunning.

So there it is!

The Secrets are definitely one’s to look out for in 2015!

We wish them all the best and can’t wait to hear more new material from the band!

12 Days of Brumotions: Forever The Secrets – Part Two

On the 5th day of Christmas, Brumotions gave you…

The Secrets interview part 2!

Sunday saw part ONE of our interview with soon to be pop sensations – The Secrets. Our interview with the lads was so long we had to split this into two parts.

This interview includes even more laughs and fan questions.

SecretsBusking

If you had to describe each other in one word what would it be?

Luke:  I have many words to describe Lewis, I’d say the main one is Lunatic he’s absolutely crazy, he’s hyper all the time, and he’s just a general lunatic I’d like to get a word which incorporates his generosity and niceness in there as well but he is an absolute lunatic like he’ll go around Asda just screaming… he’ll probably be playing Bogies with himself.

Lewis: Bogies.

Luke: Like that.

Lewis: So mine for Josh, can we have a word that has like a – in the middle?

I suppose we will let you off with that…

Luke: That’s against the rules.

Lewis: Pretty – Boy, I think that’s my word for Josh.

Josh: WHAT?

Lewis: Not that I fancy Josh or anything but he’s just so perfect, like he’ll get up in the morning, he’ll literally look at his hair and spray it with hairspray quick and BAM he’s done and he just looks good straight away and he’s like so photogenic… so that’s my word for Josh.

Josh: Cheers Mate.

I feel a bit of a Bromance there…

Lewis: Oh yeah, I’ve loved Josh ever since day one, I’m holding his leg right now.

Josh: Ahh this is awkward… Luke, I’m not sure I’ll probably just say he’s just cool, just the way he dresses, the way he acts… he’s pretty cool to be fair.

Luke: I was expecting a word beginning with S and ending in T… well thank you Josh.

If you were to take the Queen on a date where would you take her and why?

Josh: Nandos.

Lewis: A chippy in Bolton, It’s one of the cheapest chippys that I’ve ever seen, you can get a burger, chips AND a can of coke for £2.

Josh: So you’d take the queen there?

Lewis: I think that’s where I’d take the queen and I’d be like check what we’re living – Poverty that’s where it’s at.

Luke: I went on a date once at the Tamworth snow dome, I would definitely recommend tobogganing.

Lewis: The Queen tobogganing? She’d fall apart.

Luke: She would absolutely love it and there’s a Starbucks there afterwards, so I’d buy her a ginger spiced Latté so that would be a perfect date for me and the Queen.

We have a couple of questions from your fans, so the first one is from @Amieeyoung1996 and she wants to know what’s the best thing about being in a band?

Lewis: I’m going to say the interaction with the fans, I mean everything’s great about being in a band, the playing side of its amazing and actually learning to practise writing your own music is all amazing but up until starting The Secrets we never actually had dedicated loyal fans and you’ve got to make friendships with your fans,  it’s really amazing that we can  go busking and we can say what time we are going and a load of our fans turn up and we can hang out with them, it’s just amazing.

Luke: Yeah I’d agree with that.

Lewis: it’s nothing that we have ever had before and it’s such a crazy concept for us and we absolutely love it.

@OfMiceandMcvey asked who is your biggest inspiration?

Luke: Mine would definitely be Ed Sheeran because I feel like the way he acts about everything, his personality comes across really well in everything he does, he seems like a really genuine guy and he does music for the music, he doesn’t do it for the money or the attention he does it cause he really loves it and I’d like to imitate that in a way like I’d love to be him.

Josh: I’d probably say Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake to be honest, ever since I was little I listened to them all the time and just the way they are, the music they produce, the music they write it’s just amazing.

Lewis: A lot of artists have always inspired me but I think the main person would have to be my Dad cause the first band I was in, was when I was 11 but before that my whole life he’s always been in bands, so the only things I have had around me has been bands so when I was younger I was going to gigs and seeing the fun they had and how happy it made everyone by playing music I mean if you’re playing in a pub to a load of friends it’s not like you’re doing it for the money you’re doing it purely for the love of the music and that’s what’s sort of rubbed off on me.

So, @GiraffeVamps wants to know, how did you all meet?

Lewis: Well, me and Luke were in a band together called FYI and that started about 4 or 5 years ago, we met from being in the gig scene, everyone always gigged together in different bands.

Luke: Actually, Lewis and I were both in bands and the singer of Lewis’ band was ill and he asked me to come in and sing for them cause he’d seen me at other gigs and we went on to that other band, after all that, that band broke up we all went our separate ways and Josh messaged me on Facebook asking me to start a band and then we met up for a coffee and really got on and then I got in Lewis and it was love ever since.

@UnicornsAreFxb asked, who picked the name The Secrets.

Lewis: It was actually a joint decision; we had like 100’s of names, it was a choice between The Secrets and a few others, The Craze so we could call our fans The Crazies but I think the best one that really stuck out was obviously The Secrets.

Luke: At first we weren’t really sure on a name and then after a month or so, the fans just loved it so it was a good decision in the end.

@WallisChloe53 said if you weren’t in the band what would you be doing?

Luke: I’d probably still be doing music, before the band I was doing my own stuff on YouTube saying that though I was working at McDonalds so hopefully I won’t have to go back to working at McDonalds.

Lewis: Yeah I’d definitely still be doing music, I was working for Domino’s before the band, even though I was working like 40 hours a week I was still busking in the day times trying to just do the music it’s always been a passion.

Josh: Well before the band I was working with my Dad doing Fire Protection, but I mean, with music, it’s just what I want to do forever, pretty much it’s just great, I just love it.

Luke: What would you do if the band like ended, what would happen?

Josh: It’s not going to end.

Luke: Yeah I know that but let’s say it hypothetically it got blew up… yeah if the band got blew up.

Josh: Yeah, just continue with music.

@FxckTheSecrets wants to know what colour socks you’re wearing?

Lewis: Right now I am wearing, black and blue succulent fluffy socks, which are unbelievably warm… ah Luke’s are well good… go on Luke.

Luke: I have Mr Men socks – Mr Tickle is now on my foot, he’s not tickling them but he’s on my foot.

Josh: I’ve got black, blue and orange socks on and I’ve just found a penny inside them.

Luke: They are my socks… you thief… yeah Josh is wearing my socks, just so you know.

As you guys are called The Secrets, are there are secrets that you can tell us?

Lewis: uhm we don’t really have any secrets because me, Luke and Josh all live together but if we did have secrets we wouldn’t be able to co-exist as we have done.

Luke: I think she means do we have any secrets to tell them?

Exactly, we don’t live with you guys…

Luke: One little secret is that Lewis takes like three hours in the shower.

Lewis: That’s not a secret, that’s for anyone to find out.

Luke: Josh is a very good cook; he makes spaghetti Bolognaise with red wine in it.

Lewis: oh Yeah, Josh has an unbelievable Germ phobia which is good in a way in a sense that he is obviously clean but it’s so annoying when it’s  like Dude can I have a bit of your drink, I’m really thirsty and he’s like uhmmm well no then you have to find a glass or something and you have to pour it into that, it’s just really annoying, he’s really really anal about it.

Luke: I also fancy Josh’s mum.

Josh: WHATTT Dude.

Luke: I’d like to say I’m joking but I’m not.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

Luke:  I’d personally say, a cat because they get what they want, when they want, they get fussed over all day, they get fed, if they are still hungry they go out and just kill something and eat it, it’s just an all round chilled out animal.

Lewis: I’d like to be a cat – but a big cat like a lion or something like that, I’d like to be the dominant man of the pride like grrr if anyone steps near my family I’m gonna kill you, I’m very protective so I think that portrays my animal world.

Josh: I’d like to be a Monkey but I have no idea why they are just cool, I just love Monkeys.

Luke: So you can be in the new One Direction video.

Josh: Yeah.

 So there you have it!

The Secrets are definitely a band to look our for in 2015!

We wish them all the best and can’t wait to hear their new material.

Don’t forget to follow the  band on Twitter – @TheSecretsMusic and keep an eye out for our ‘OR’ game, which will be available to read later today!

12 Days of Brumotions: Fall Out Boy – ‘American Beauty/American Psycho’

On the 4th day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to you…

A Fall Out Boy single review

ab-ap

American Alt-rock band Fall Out Boy are back with their newest and interesting release ‘American Beauty/American Psycho’, which is currently AVAILABLE to download!

The track will be featured on and shares it name with the band’s sixth studio album, which is set for release in the UK on January 19th.

‘American Beauty/American Psycho’ (which is being shortened to AB/AP) is an odd track… to say the least, with an even stranger music video – which we can’t help but like!

“We turned left when everyone expected us to turn right” Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz told Radio One’s Zane Lowe after its first airplay, which we completely agree with!

Although their newest track is slightly similar to a number of the group’s other releases, it does see the lads heading towards a harder and heavier rock route.

Though we’re sure we’ll be playing the track on repeat as it’s an incredibly catchy, punk track from the FOB lads.

fob

Making the announcement on Facebook, the band said:

“the moment where a shadow lets you know where the sun was streaming in. the odd place where light and dark meet. there is a threshold. we all can feel it – it is something palpable… the idea that no matter how much an animal is domesticated – there is something wild in it. declawed but we take/make the best monsters. we semi-civilize them. we put bears in suits on tricycles.

“we keep wolves warm from the winter in hen houses. then we wonder why they maul the hearts of what we hold the most dear. but make no mistake you brought them into your house and thought they could become a pet. we have infiltrated you. now we are inside you like a disease. this is a modern love story – coming together and unraveling all at once….”

Which does help to slightly understand this incredibly strange music video released for the track, though it is still confusing and makes less sense to us with each view.

fob video

‘AB/AP’ is the perfect track for Fall Out Boy to debut a new punk sound to their audience as it will no doubt be successful!

The group are an incredible talent, who we believe will reach great success with their newest track and we wish them all the best!

Make sure you take a look of the video below:

AB/AP is currently available to purchase!

Let us know your take on the new FOB track!

12 Days of Brumotions: Ben Haenow – ‘Something I Need’

On the 3rd day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to you…

A Ben Haenow single review

Ben-Haenow

This weekend saw the final of X Factor 2014, a series which has seen highs, lows, 8 boys standing in a row, oh and Stevi Ritchie.

X Factor season 11 has been hotly contested from the outset and climaxed to a competitive final between Ben ‘Sexy Rock God’ Haenow and Fleur ‘She’s got it all’ East!

Like the rest of the British nation, us Brumoters were left on the edge of our seats and we just couldn’t call the outcome.

After an array of stellar performances, Ben was crowned X Factor king, with his winner’s song – ‘Something I need’ which was originally penned by One Republic!

Something I need is a perfect track to showcase the raspy, yet soulful tone of Ben’s voice, which we loved from his initial audition.
Compared to the original, Ben’s version is just that little bit more upbeat and is one of those tracks you find yourself singing in the shower or after having one too many drinks at Christmas.

The Question is, will it achieve Christmas Number One, or will Ben get pushed from the top spot by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ newest collaboration Uptown Funk.

The single is available to DOWNLOAD NOW!

Syco will be donating 100% of it’s profits from the single to ‘Together for short lives’ – So get your copy now!

12 Days of Brumotions: Forever The Secrets – Part One

On the 2nd day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to you…

The Secrets Interview – Part One

As you may or may not know, us Brumoters LOVE discovering new artists- especially a good boyband.

The Secrets

Here at Brumotions, we recently got the chance to talk with rising stars –  Josh, Lewis and Luke to get to know them a little better and see what they have planned for 2015.

*WARNING* This interview is packed with plenty of laughs and some of YOUR fan questions Check it out and let us know what you think…

So for those who don’t know you guys, what makes The Secrets, The Secrets?

Luke: I suppose it would be that we all sing, that we’re a three piece cross between a boyband and your typical rock band because we play our own instruments but we try and all sing, so I guess that’s us.

If you could describe your sound in three words collectively, what would they be?

Lewis: I think it would be fun. We’re really interactive when we’re playing.

Luke: We got our three words there…

Lewis: Yeah, they’re our three words – fun, interactive and…

Luke: You said really interactive.

Lewis: Alright, fun, really and interactive are our three words.

Have you had any interesting fan experiences with any of your Little Secrets?

Luke: I think Josh has one from Newcastle.

Josh: Yeah, in Newcastle, we were having pictures with the fans and a fan came behind me and tried to pull down my trousers, which was a bit crazy.

Lewis: That was a bit full on.

Luke: It’s not all like that; we have some really cool fans, it’s crazy cause they’re from all over the place and they all make us stuff – there was a fan from Birmingham that made me a book for my 20th birthday with 20 things that they love about me, which was really cool and then some fans from Stafford made a big book for the band.

Lewis: It had loads of pictures they’d drawn, personal stories they’d had with us. This book was really massive, there were about 30 pages in there that they had absolutely filled, it was amazing.

Who would you most like to support live?

Lewis: I’d say Ed Sheeran or The Vamps.

Josh: Yeah.

Lewis: They’re both amazing, I think Ed Sheeran has so many amazing songs and the way that he does his songs, just him, his guitar and his loop pedal. It’s really inspiring just to watch him, especially from trying to make it through the years to becoming a band, we were all solo acts, so we’re trying to push ourselves forward, so actually being able to support him would be unreal.

Luke: Definitely, I’d agree with that as well.

Josh: One Direction, cause they have a massive crowd.

Luke: Yeah, that’d be pretty sick. I know he’s passed away now, but Michael Jackson to get some vocal lessons from him.

Can we expect any new and original music soon?

Luke: Yeah, we’re going in to the studio in December again to record some more tracks, we are just sorting out the demos now, we have about six or seven tracks ready to record, but in December we will probably record only one or two.

What are your favourite tracks to play live?

Lewis: Probably our own Maybe Baby and Forever, which are available now on ITunes.

Nice plug.

Lewis: Other than our own originals, I’d probably say either Thinking out Loud by Ed Sheeran or Titanium by David Guetta – I’m absolutely in love with the song, even though we are playing it, the harmonies that we have got in it are three part harmonies and they sound really nice. It’s really funny when we go busking, one of us will say what song’s next and I’ll say Titanium, every single time. One time we were busking in Bournemouth and we said ‘alright, we are going to go home now’ and I said ‘no, we’re going to do one last song – Titanium’ and we did it and got £30 in notes, it was like ‘screw you Luke’.

Luke: That’s his personal vendetta against me.

Lewis: Oh yeah, always – I just hate you Luke.

Luke: Oh, we’ve learnt a new Christmas song, which I really like playing, it’s the most cheesiest song ever but so much fun to play.

Lewis: Santa Claus is coming to town.

Luke: The Jackson 5 version, so it’s really cool.

So you mentioned Forever and Maybe Baby, what was your inspiration for those?

Luke: Forever was about an ex-girlfriend and Maybe Baby was about a girl that I fancied – I was at home and I started writing the song, then Josh’s Dad Wayne started coming over and reeling off all of these lyrics and it was really cool and we all sat around the dinner table eating our tea, writing this song.

Is there any advice or mottos that you live by?

Lewis: Don’t stop, never give up. Just keep going, I mean for both me and Luke, music has been a massive part of our lives and for Josh it’s been a big part of his life the last four years, hasn’t it?

Josh: Yeah.

Lewis: We have always been trying to make it in music, the first band I was in, I was 11 years old. The only reason we’re starting to get a following now is just because we have got the determination cause we just don’t give up, we quit our jobs and University to try and go for it, I mean if we didn’t put the time in, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Luke: I have a saying I like to think that I made up, it’s: Tomatoes are for people who like tomatoes and it basically means that not everyone is going to enjoy our music, there’s always going to be people that don’t like it, but we play our music for the people who love it.

We will have to steal that one.

Lewis: Another one I go by is: You miss 100% of the chances that you don’t take.

Do you have any up and coming gigs? Preferably in Paris (IAmConnorBall), Ireland (IrishTheSecrets) or Manchester (@BrandonMisses03) as requested by some of your fans?

Lewis: We had one that was close to Manchester, on Thursday 20th November, which was the Christmas Light Switch-On for Bolton in the town centre. But we don’t have any of them close to Paris or Ireland.

Luke: I can’t think of any in Ireland or Paris either, we had another one up near Manchester at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy on the 27th of November for a BTEC Music Evening… I can’t really think without looking at the diary though.

12 Days of Brumotions: Union J – ‘You got it all’ Album Review

On the 1st day of Christmas, Brumotions gave to you….

A Union J Album Review!

Union J - You Got It All

JJ, Jaymi, Josh and George are back with their second studio album, which we have already fallen in love with.

‘You got it all’, which shares it’s title with one of the tracks featured on the new album, was released on December 8th and we’ve had it on repeat ever since!

Check out our track by track review of Union J’s new release below!

Tonight (We Live Forever)

After catching the lads performing this energetic track at Fusion Festival earlier this year, this was definitely a great way for the lads to kick off their second studio album – It shows the Union J boys at their finest – Four young lads living their dream and having fun whilst doing so. We love it!

You Got It All

You Got It All is our favourite power ballad from the album! – Written by Canadian genius Nasri from Magic! (You know, the lads that wrote the UK chart topping track: Rude!) – although we weren’t sure how this track would fit on the album as the lads are more known for their energetic singles, we were definitely pleasantly surprise – especially after their stunning X Factor performance and undeniable vocal talent.

All about a Girl

Initially, this track reminds us of an old school 90s boyband track (our childhood right there!) with a Union J twist and we think it’s incredible… we also like to imagine it’s written about us, but that’s another story.

We currently have the incredibly catchy chorus stuck in our heads and have been walking around singing Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na for the past few hours, which makes us pretty excited to hear this track live.

One More Time

One More Time brings the party vibe that was missing in the first three songs, while also ensuring to display the amazing vocals that the lads have. It is slightly odd to be featured on this album though, as we’re nearing the end of the year, but this track speaks about the end of Summer, but it’s still a great song to celebrate the nearing of the New Year and will obviously make it on our end of year soundtrack! We would love to see this track released as the group’s next single.

Together

It’s already an obvious crowd pleaser and we cannot WAIT to hear this track live. Together is a fun loving, edgier sounding track about having fun and living life to the fullest.

I Can’t Make You Love Me

Although About A Girl sounded like a 90s track, I Can’t Make You Love Me truly IS a 90s track. That’s right! Union J have recorded their own version of the 90s country pop single, originally released by Bonnie Raitt. But like all of the tracks on the new album, the lads have placed their own stamp on the song and it sounds incredible!

She’s in my Head

This track screams Union J; it’s energetic, hyper and features incredible vocals and harmonies! It’s definitely a lot more edgier than we were expecting from the lads, but it fits the rest of the album perfectly!

Midnight Train

Once again, we’re faced with another incredible track that we’d like to imagine the gorgeous lads from Union J had written about us. We can definitely see this song being amazing during a live performance as it sets a great atmosphere.

I Love to Watch You Sleep

Who doesn’t want to imagine sharing a bed with Union J? We volunteer!

In this track, we see the lads turn into our very own Prince Charming(s) in this ballad, which has us (and we would be guessing you too) swooning over the handsome lads. It reminds us of a lullaby with the soft, crooning vocals that are very easy on the ears.

Central Park

On the other side of the spectrum, we have Central Park which is a slower song about heartbreak.

Although the lyrics explain a sad story, we absolutely love this track as it shows the more emotional side of these lads.

Girl Like You

This track is a Brumotions favourite; it’s upbeat, fun and has a real feel good atmosphere. Girl Like You will be perfect to brighten up those dull winter mornings and a track you will find yourself playing on repeat and singing in the shower.

YOLO

YOLO!

We’re glad that YOLO means ‘You Only Live Once’ because we wouldn’t be able to only listen to this song! It’s a great addictive and hyper track, however, we can’t help but feel that it would’ve been better to be released back when YOLO was still a thing.

Get It Right

This song gets a little lost within the powerful pop tracks on the album; however, we were excited to hear JJ’s vocals on the track, which we feel should feature more throughout the album. We weren’t overly impressed with this song, though we do want to ask “can we please have more singing parts from JJ?!”

Song for You and I

This track is a nice end for the album as its cheesy pop at it’s finest! Josh really jumps and succeeds at the opportunity to show off his smooth vocals and the entire song makes us smile and sing along. However, we believe that one of the previous tracks would have been the much better choice to finish the album.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

This one was released at the perfect time! And it’s great to hear Union J’s take on this centuries old classic! It’s a great festive track, which we will definitely have on repeat up until the New Year… at least until next Christmas.

Overall, the album is pure and powerful pop at its best and we’re absolutely in love with it! The whole album is inoffensive, features incredible lyrics and vocals and is great to dance around to. However, we can’t help but think a few of the tracks are lost among the other incredible ones.

Let us know what you think!
